Choosing a good spearfishing vacation destination basically comes down to personal predilection. There are so many areas in Ukraine that offer exciting spearfishing adventures. You just have to decide where you want to go, what you want to see and how much money you are ready to spend.

 

 

If you want to spearfish in Ukraine, then you should begin in the Polissya. Big fish abound in the well-known lakes: the Bile, the Nobel',  the Voronkivske and the Ostrivs'ke.

 

 

Among these fish you may found sheatfish, pike, carp, zander, bass,  tench,  burbot, crucian, which are typical at all regions... Though it's not the end of the list.

 

But for a more exotic species you should visit Rivne region (Volodimiret’s and Zarechnoe's districts). Some spearfishing vacationers like to hunt for eel here, for example.

 

 

 

You have to use special techniques and ammunition when you spearfish for eels. This fish is a night predator and that's why it sits in holes in the daytime. You can see only its head hidden in clay, silt, sand, when the fish is frightened. In order to hit the eel you should hunt it with a tip with at least two teeth, otherwise it will flee. It is unreal to hold an eel in hands as it is covered with a layer of mucus.

 

Lakes and rivers in the Ukrainian Polissya has many excellent spots for trying your hand at spearfishing.

 

When you get to Rivne region you can travel by Polissya Tram from Antonivka  to Zarichnoe and visit local curiosities on the way.
